The Next Energy and Stretch Code: 780 CMR 10th Ed.

In 2021 Massachusetts is expected to adopt the 10thedition of the statewide building code, along with a new version of the “Stretch” Energy Code.  In advance of this adoption AIA Massachusetts has proposed a version of the new Zero Emissions Appendix as the basis for the new Stretch code.  The Stretch code is mandatory in all cities and towns designated as “Green Communities” by the MA Dept. of Energy Resources, but can also be adopted by other jurisdictions.  The Zero Energy Code is intended to provide a standardized and enforceable mechanism to achieve the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement on arbon emissions reductions.
