Fitzemeyer & Tocci (F&T) was established as a mechanical engineering firm in 1961 by Edward Fitzemeyer and his business partner, Arthur Tocci. Their goal was to emphasize their engineering leadership philosophy, which provided a mix of technologically advanced, resilient and energy efficient infrastructure systems, designed with the long-term needs of their clients at the forefront.

In 1995, “Ted” Fitzemeyer, Jr. took over leadership of F&T as second generation of the “Owner’s Engineer” philosophy.  Under Ted’s leadership, the firm continually expanded in both staff and engineering capabilities, adding the additional design services of fire protection, electrical engineering, information technology engineering, life safety code consulting and commissioning services.

As our electrical, plumbing and fire protection disciplines matured, in 2003 the firm expanded further into a partnership model with market specific leaders and managers, experts in their respective fields, and dedicated to the firm’s long standing “Owner’s Engineer” perspective.

The firm’s partnership model allowed focused expansion of Engineering Leadership in the Northeast region and beyond for target markets of Healthcare and Academic, with additional market specific leadership being added for Commissioning services and Science and Technology markets in 2012 and 2014, respectively.

In 2019 the firm expanded further, adding a dedicated Life Safety and Code Consulting group and additional Technology service capabilities to now support full telecom, security, access control, and audio-visual design. To put a capstone on complete Owner’s Engineer services, the firm also established Fitzemeyer & Tocci Construction Management; a full turn-key project delivery service that supports F&T design with comprehensive construction management and execution services.

As of 2021, Fitzemeyer & Tocci is a full-service engineering and construction management firm with 3 locations and 55 employees, providing multidiscipline engineering and construction management throughout the nation for some of the most renowned healthcare and academic organizations in the US. We have been voted Best Firm to Work for by Zweig White 6 times and was named as a 2020 Hot Firm.
