Shawmut’s New N95 Mask Production Plant

Updated: Apr 19

Yesterday morning, Governor Baker held his press conference live from Shawmut’s new domestic N95 manufacturing operation in West Bridgewater, Mass to announce the launch of Shawmut's new N95 particulate respirator to aid the country’s need for manufacturing domestic-made PPE. This was made possible by the new production facility, which F&T was honored to be a part of.

Working with Fallon Company, Shawmut Corporation shifted gears early in the pandemic to turn their West Bridgewater Headquarters into an N95 mask production plant. Fitzemeyer & Tocci quickly joined the team to provide facility design and construction administration services, which went from concept to production in six months.

F&T was honored to be part of this fast paced project in partnership with Fallon Company, Linea 5 and AZ Corp. Production lines are now operating, with a goal of creating up to 10 million masks per month by year-end to meet continued demand for domestically produced PPE.

The new N95 Mask Production Plant was created through a purpose-driven partnership with The Fallon Company and supported by a grant from Massachusetts’s Manufacturing Emergency Response Team (MERT) and and the Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA), a program created to support in-state manufacturing of critical PPE items, including N95 masks, protective gowns, hand sanitizer, and ventilators.
