F&T provided full MEP/FP engineering design and construction administration services for the renovation of an existing 33,000 sf factory to provide off campus laboratory spaces to WPI for higher risk lab use. The factory was initially stripped to core/shell with a robust infrastructure to accommodate fit-outs of unknown labs. Offices, loading dock, water treatment, and hazardous waste spaces were the first fit-outs. The two labs fit-outs that have been completed include multiple explosion considerations, including exterior walls intended to crumple outward to minimize damage within the building. Two additional labs are intended to be fit out in the near future, with large shell space remaining for future labs.
