Fitzemeyer & Tocci provided comprehensive MEP engineering services for the replacement of the existing 1.5T MRI at Massachusetts General Hospital’s North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers, MA. The project involved the installation of a new GE 1.5T MRI, delivering advanced imaging capabilities to improve diagnostic efficiency and enhance the overall patient experience.
F&T’s scope included reconfiguration, extension, and modification of existing systems to support the renovated MRI suite. This encompassed heating and cooling systems, ventilation, exhaust, building controls, domestic hot and cold water systems, medical gas, and the NFPA-13-compliant fire sprinkler system. Electrical upgrades included modifications to normal and emergency power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, nurse call, and raceway support systems.
Additionally, the project involved upgrades to the process chilled water system serving the entire imaging and radiation oncology departments, ensuring reliable and efficient cooling capacity for sensitive medical equipment.
