Fitzemeyer & Tocci provided full facility design and construction administration services for the emergency department renovation and expansion at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC). This modernization project included both an addition and renovation to the existing emergency department and main entrance, aimed at enhancing the patient and staff experience through improved functionality and accessibility.

The upgraded facility features new trauma rooms, a dedicated behavioral health suite, expanded support spaces, updated waiting and registration areas, and a new covered drop-off at the main entrance. These enhancements were thoughtfully designed to improve care delivery, patient privacy, and operational flow within the emergency department.

By combining clinical efficiency with patient-centered design, the project has elevated the overall care environment—improving outcomes, staff satisfaction, and the ability to respond to growing community healthcare needs.
