Meet Drew!

Project Leader 1

8 months with F&T

With eight months at the firm and a strong background in mechanical and plumbing engineering, Drew DeCoste is quickly becoming a reliable and valued contributor within the MEP industry. His experience combines hands‑on system design, client‑focused communication, and a solid technical foundation gained through his Mechanical Engineering degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, Drew supports projects from early planning through detailed design, equipment selection, load calculations, and interdisciplinary coordination. Skilled in Revit, AutoCAD, and energy modeling tools, he approaches each project with clarity, responsiveness, and a commitment to accurate, efficient design solutions.

Drew’s work with Kinetic Design and AHA Consulting Engineers includes HVAC and plumbing systems for commercial, residential, laboratory, and specialty facilities, as well as Title 24 compliance for California projects. His earlier experience in technical sales further strengthened his ability to collaborate with manufacturers, contractors, and engineering teams. Whether designing new systems or supporting renovations, Drew brings reliability, technical precision, and a collaborative mindset to every project.

Q&A

What inspired you to join our team, and what has been your journey so far?

I was drawn to the team because of the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects while learning from experienced engineers. Since joining, I’ve had the chance to get involved in a variety of projects and continue building my knowledge of HVAC system design. It’s been a great environment for learning, and I’ve really enjoyed expanding both my technical skills and industry connections along the way

What are some of the most rewarding aspects of your job?

One of the most rewarding parts of the job is seeing a design go from drawings on a screen to an actual system installed in a building. It’s also rewarding to solve complex problems and collaborate with different teams to find the best solution. I enjoy the constant learning aspect of engineering as well—there’s always something new in building systems, energy efficiency, and technology

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work I spend a lot of time around golf. I love playing, watching, and learning everything I can about the game. I started playing in 2020 and have worked my way down to around a 6 handicap. I also enjoy traveling, spending time with friends, and getting involved in industry groups like ASHRAE, which is a great way to meet people in the field and keep learning
