Minimizing Infection Risk: Magnetic Door Holds

Updated: Feb 23, 2021

As schools and workplaces reopen and adjust to the new normal, it is crucial to minimize infection risk for space users.

Minimizing risk in the post-Covid-19 environment includes limiting the number of commonly used touchpoints. Magnetic door hold opens have been limiting the number of people touching door operators since their inception. Magnetic door hold opens are typically only installed at smoke barrier locations as they are a fire alarm device. However, there is no code limitation on which doors can receive a hold open as long as power supplies are sized appropriately to support the number of devices. F&T is happy to help determine which doors may benefit from limiting the number of people who have to touch them to maximize safety to all space users.
