Fitzemeyer & Tocci proudly supported the Massachusetts School Building Authority and the City of Waltham with commissioning services for the new 415,000 SF Waltham High School. Designed to serve 1,830 students in grades 9-12, the new facility supports 21st-century learning, integrating academic, technical, and vocational programs withing one cohesive environment.Â

Through a fully integrated Career and Technical Education (CTE) program, Waltham High School provides students with state-of-the-art spaces for disciplines such as HVAC, nursing, automotive technology, carpentry, culinary arts, and cosmetology, each designed to stimulate real-world professional environments by emulating functional workplaces and enabling students to develop practical skills and confidence in their craft. The 42-acre site also features a new gym, auditorium, classrooms, and collaborative spaces for students. Â

As the commissioning agent, F&T played a key role in verifying that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems were installed, tested, and operating in alignment with the design intent. Our commissioning process focused on system integration, energy performance, indoor air quality, and long-term maintainability, ensuring our team helped deliver a building that is efficient, resilient, and optimized for comfort and performance, supportive of both students and staff.Â

In addition to its educational innovation, the new Waltham High School is also pursuing LEEDv4 Silver verification, demonstrating the city’s commitment to sustainability and healthy learning environments for generations to come.Â
