As Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineering Manager, Richard Barbera, CPD, brings nearly 40 years of experience in plumbing, fire protection, and building systems engineering, along with a proven track record of technical leadership, project management, and team development. With a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University, specialized certifications in plumbing and sanitary systems design, and recognition as a Certified Plumbing Designer, Rich combines deep technical expertise with a commitment to delivering innovative, integrated engineering solutions. Throughout his career, he has led complex projects across educational, municipal, and commercial facilities, overseeing multidisciplinary teams, establishing engineering standards, and mentoring emerging professionals. His ability to balance technical excellence, operational efficiency, and client-focused service has contributed to the successful delivery of high-performing projects that provide lasting value to clients and communities alike—making this award a well-deserved recognition of his leadership, expertise, and impact.
