DCS Corporation has opened a new Engineering and Product Development Facility in Westford, Massachusetts—an advanced environment designed to support the development, prototyping, and manufacturing of technologies for U.S. defense applications.
Fitzemeyer & Tocci provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for the 55,000-square-foot fit-out, which brings together laboratories, assembly and research areas, secure spaces, and offices into a single integrated workplace. The facility enables DCS to expand its engineering and product development capabilities while supporting programs serving the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Special Operations Command.
The project began with an evaluation of four potential facilities to identify the building best suited to support DCS’s programmatic and infrastructure requirements. Fitzemeyer & Tocci worked closely with the project team to assess each site’s existing building systems, capacity, and adaptability for the specialized technical spaces required by the client. This early evaluation helped ensure the selected building could support the complex infrastructure needed for engineering, prototyping, and manufacturing operations.
Our team collaborated with Maugel DeStefano Architects and Timberline Construction to align the facility’s programming needs with the available infrastructure at the Westford building and project budget. The design integrates a range of specialized environments that support DCS’s engineering and development workflows while providing flexibility for future growth.
The completed facility includes high-bay areas, machining workspaces, and dedicated prototyping zones that allow engineering teams to develop and test advanced systems. Laboratory and assembly spaces support electronics manufacturing and integration activities, while office and collaboration areas create opportunities for communication between engineers, technicians, and program teams.
By combining specialized technical environments with flexible workspace, the new Westford facility provides a platform for continued innovation. The purpose-built environment enables DCS teams to rapidly develop, test, and deploy advanced technologies that support mission-critical defense operations.
Fitzemeyer & Tocci is proud to support the infrastructure behind innovative engineering environments like this one and to contribute to facilities that enable cutting-edge technology development.
